Catherine Fedt Peterseim and a letter from Joe Peterseim
In Grandma (Fedt) Petersime early life, the Queen demanded that the people of Saxe Coburg bring flour and make a track for her to sleigh-ride on in the summertime. This caused a war in which all the young men of her age were killed. Grandfather was quite a few years younger than her. They were married in Germany and came across with the rest of the Petersimes. They were almost across and a storm drove the ship back so it took them three months to make the voyage.
Petersime is claimed to be of Polish origin and came from a man who raised petersiler (parsley). Grandma had the following brother and sisters Mrs. Couse (or Comse), Mrs. Herring, Mrs. Werner, John Michael Fedt, Sebastian Andrew Fedt, who married Mrs. Bang's sister, an aunt to Willie and Levi Bang, Antonia Fedt.
Henry Adam Fedt on the Rhine, whose immense wealth was destroyed by the French during the World War, all these were great uncles and great aunts to us. While living on the Shafer farm, Grandma boiled lots of sugar water and would walk to Covington (then called Rowdy-wood) 7 or 8 miles each way, and carry two buckets of maple sugar and trade it for groceries. This is about all I can give you n detail as they did not seem to keep any dates or records in their day. We have not been to Columbus for a couple of year. We sure are having plenty of rain just now.
