1833 – John Booth of Jefferson Co, IND filed suit re: 200 acres in Loudoun Co, Va worth $8000 in 1820, stating he was born in Fayette Co, PA, son of James who was son of Robert; that in 1819 his cousin, John Booth of Loudoun Co visited and got power of attorney for an inheritance that John of Indiana had never been aware that he was entitled to, and for which he was given $300. In the fall of 1833 he learned that 83 acres of the same land had just been sold for $5447.40 to John George.
1835 – Aug 22, Lawyer F. W. Luckett took depositions in his office in Leesburg, regarding the land dispute of John Booth of Indiana; one deposition given by Fanny Booth, who said she was mother of the defendant, that she married James Booth, that her father-in-law was John Booth, and she was born 13 Jun 1867 a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, till she was married about 1783. She said the elder James Booth, s/o Robert, had sold the land in question to her father-in-law, John Booth between 1775 and 1785 for ƒ50 down. After James Booth was skilled, his young sons received land in Indiana, and his daughters received "what was coming for the land in this county". She said the husbands of the two girls had received their money in the 1790's after the land was sold. Her late husband, James, paid her son John about $50 in 1818/19 for a deed. She was currently living with her son James.
1836 – April, case of John Booth of Indiana was dismissed because the land had been sold about 60 years before he tried to claim it.
